Commander
First introduced in 1959, this range has been produced without interruption ever since. The story of the Commander line draws from what, until the early 20th century, used to be the world’s highest structure – the Eiffel Tower. The steel beams and arches of the 324-metre-high structure originally inspired the designers at Mido to create a watch with a striking round dial and a slim case bezel, rectangular indexes and sophisticated linear hands. Later on, a week-day and date display were added, as well as (in some models) a chronograph.
Underscoring its highly original look, is the elegant metal – ideally Milan-style – bracelet which is fully integrated into the case. Nowadays, the watch is also available with a leather strap. Over the years, the original acrylic crystal found itself replaced by a sapphire one.

Something more...
The Commander line began the trend of single-piece cases lending the watch a longer lifespan and a compact look – which, it must be said, triggered a minor revolution in the industry.Collection highlight
As popular as ever, is the Icône featuring a Milanese mesh bracelet and a COSC certificate of accuracy which follows up on the original 1959 watch. This current model is equipped with an automatic movement and a silicon hairspring. Also gaining much favour are the range’s finely-tuned chronographs such as, for example, the one with reference number M016.414.11.041.00 sporting a dark-blue dial and detailed features in red and white.
