Polaris

The recent Polaris collection draws inspiration from the 1968 Polaris Memovox watch. The original Memovox was a subtle and elegant model launched in the 1950s and equipped with an alarm. The mechanical alarm, with its own crown, became so popular it was later incorporated into the sports divers’ watch while still meeting all the challenging parameters of water sports watches.

Polaris is the manufacture’s only sports collection featuring a robust case with a matching steel bracelet or, alternatively, a leather or rubber strap. The dial has two or four numerals (the numbers 3, 6, 9 and 12) at most depending on the number of complications. The Polaris offers a range of useful everyday functions that include a chronograph, world time and, naturally, a mechanical alarm.

Something more…

The first wristwatch with a mechanical alarm was invented and manufactured by the Vulcain watch manufacture which named it Cricket. The Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox system was developed a year later. While alarms in mechanical watches don’t attain the popularity devoted to chronographs, it is far from simple to manufacture such a mechanism, especially if it is to withstand underwater conditions and work as perfectly as the alarm in Polaris timepieces does.

Collection highlight

The Polaris Memovox is a phenomenon inspired by the original 1968 Memovox timepiece. Until now, Polaris Memovox has been a limited model, but considering the demand for it, we predict it will make it into the collection as an “available” piece. The 42 mm case protects an automatic calibre 956 with a stunning power reserve of 45 hours. The black dial features indexes and numerals coated with a luminescent finish and a date indicator.
